Fill in the Blanks Friday

Hello, it's Friday, so lets take a break from recipes an fill in some blanks! This lovely fill in the blanks is from Lauren at All the Little Things. Head over to her blog and join in on the fun!

1. My last haircut was in September, I was super brave and got bangs!
I'm still not sure if I like em or not...

2. My most daring hair moment was.... this is a hard one.... i'm pretty boring as far as hair is concerned. I had a bowl cut up till about sixth grade, thanks mom!
3. A hairstyle I'd never be brave enough to try is shaved head for sure. I am afraid I would discover that my head is wierd shaped or something.
4. I've always dreamt of being a (blonde, brunette or red-head)blond, I tried on a wig once, definitley does not work with my skin tone!

Ponytail!

5. My go-to hair do is straight in a ponytail. I have naturally curly hair but it is actually easier for me to wear it straight cause I know exactly what it will look like. When it's curly I never know what it will do, sometimes pretty ringlets, other times poofy frizz ball!
6. My biggest hair disaster was when I got my hair cut in "face framing layers" my junior year of highschool. The layers were NOT face framing, there were two, one ended at cheek height and the other at chin length. It was choppy, and awful.
7. A hairstyle I am dying to try is an effortless chignon. Whenever I try to do this it falls out in about five minutes and becomes the opposite of effortless.
8. My best hair day always happens the day after I go to the salon. The day I get my hair cut I usually hate it, I dont do well with change, but once I get over that I usually end up liking it, cause my stylist is the best!
9. The worst hairstyle I ever had was that bowl cut. My mom cut me and my sister's hair exactly the same until about sixth grade. Serious bowl cuts, so unfortunate...
10. My hair is frustrating most days. I am still having trouble figuring out how to work with my bangs. It's a work in progress.

Have a great weekend! Stay tuned, I am posting a VERY special cookie recipe this weekend! AND I figured twitter out so you can follow @whiskandaprayer.
Have a LOVELY day!

Fill in the Blank Friday!

Happy Friday friends! I am on my way to Burbank, California to visit my friend Michael and go to DISNEYLAND!! I haven't been since the fourth grade and I am BEYOND excited! I write this as I am sitting in the San Fransisco airport waiting for my flight to Burbank. Every once in a while I join Lauren's Fill in the Blank Fridays, you guys should too! It's fun, I promise ☺

1. The first thing I do in the morning to start my day is turn on the tea kettle .

2. Today I wish I was somewhere warm... not sitting in the airport..(although the San Fransisco airport does have delicious clam chowder in warm sourdough bread bowls)

3. If I had an extra $100 in my bank account today I'd go to a fancy shmancy restaurant while in California, or go on a whole foods shopping spree when I get home.

4. Tomorrow I will be at DISNEYLAND!! AWHOOHOOOOO!!!

5. Two things that don't go together are peanut butter and sardines, need I say more?

6. Something I can never pass up at the grocery store is fancy cheese, or any cheese, or samples, I LOVE samples!

7. The last time I tried something new was yesterday when I tried Pizza Schmizza's alligator sausage pizza, it was actually pretty good!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Fill in the Blank Friday and a Pic of my MOM!

1. The strangest thing I've ever eaten is bull balls... ya Jose's family told me they were chicken patties. They didnt taste like chicken, they're super tough. I took one bite and knew... definitley not chicken!

2. I wouldn't be caught dead in ugly shoes.. not my thing. I love beautiful shoes!

3. When I am 75 I will hopefully be with the ones I love doing whatever the heck I want cause hey, thats old!

4. If I had to be named after a place I would want to be named Austin, it seems like an artsy, fun name. I dont think you could be a nerd and named Austin, it just exudes cool.

5. My name is "Elizabeth" after my mom's middle name (that's her picture up there, she inspires me to keep cooking!) and "Rebekah" after the one from the Bible.

6. My all time favorite photo is one of my parents and sisters when my dad returned from being deployed over seas for a really long time. My sister is clinging to him and my mom is all smiley and super happy. True love!

7. If I could afford it I would move me and my family to Mexico and start my own bakery.

Your turn! Link up over at Lauren's lovely blog the little things we do!
Have a BEAUTIFUL, RESTFUL, Friday!

Fill in the Blank Friday

imgres.jpg

Happy Almost Weeekend! Time for another Fill in the Blanks Friday! This one is all about TV. It was a little tricky for me because usually my TV is just on Food Network in the background while I work on something else... I added in the last question in honor of my love of Food Network... link up and enjoy!

1. My favorite current TV show is I have been watching Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations a lot lately. He is so witty and I love to see all the crazy places he goes to and foods he tries.

2. The TV character I can relate to most is hmm... this is a tricky one... maybe Bettie Suarez on Ugly Bettie cause I went through a super awkward stage where I didn't fit in at all and unfortunate things were always happening to me... luckily I grew out of it... mostly ☺ .

3. My life is like (fill in with TV show and why).... Maybe Paula's Home Cooking... because I too believe everything is better with a little butter!

4. My all time favorite TV show is Friends. Hands down. Always puts me in a good mood!

5. A TV show that is ridiculously stupid, but I continue to watch is The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Bravo... they are super obnoxious but for some reason it just sucks me in every time it's on...

6. My favorite TV couple is Stacy and Clinton on what not to wear... ok so they aren't technically a couple but they are so funny together... love it!

7. One TV episode I could watch over and over again is the Friend's episode where they have Thanksgiving and Joey gets a turkey stuck on his head, gets me every time!

8. My favorite TV channel is FOOD NETWORK! Like I said, it is almost always on in the background. The only show I don't really like is Good Eats, too scientific for me.

Your turn! Go visit my good friend Lauren's blog and link up your own Fill in the Blank Friday.

Fill in the Blank Friday

My good friend Lauren over at the little things we do blog honored me by putting up my fill in the blanks today! Yay! I love her blog so if you haven't already, be sure to check it out! Lots of fun tips and ideas and whatnot. My blanks are of course, cooking/food themed, hope you enjoy them, I'm excited to read all of yours too!

1. Today for breakfast I ate I figure if I'm healthy on Friday I can splurge on the weekend so I ate quinoa with maple... its good... I'll post the recipe soon :)

2. My go to/never fail recipe Coconut lime banana bread! Always a hit!

3. Something I eat that other people think is weird is oh boy... I like cheese and peanut butter... and salt on my fruit... and hot sauce on my pizza... I eat lots of strange things.. and the other day I had a craving for Braunschweiger. I used to eat it on crackers with my dad when I was little. DON'T look at the ingredients!

4. My worst cooking disaster ever was I tried to make arroz con leche for Jose in Mexico, I only had one pot and one burner.. and I had never made rice without a microwave before, and there was a pretty bad condensed milk spill involved so I ended up a sticky, ricey, burnt mess sitting in the middle of my sticky messy kitchen crying when Jose got home. I think he thought I had lost it but he bravely scooped up a spoonful and tried it. He said it wasn't bad which made me cry harder... good times :)

5. If I could only eat one flavor of ice cream the rest of my life it would be chocolate chip cookie dough... no question! (preferably Ben and Jerry's)

6. One food I hate and avoid at all costs is menudo, its a Mexican soup made with intestines, and I really don't like pistachios, capers or green olives (I HATE those things!)

7. What is your favorite meal? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? breakfast for sure! I love starting the day off with something yummy. It makes it go so much better!

Happy Fill in the Blanks Friday!!

Fill in the Blank Friday

I like the questions this week... make me wanna go back to bed :) Enjoy and get LOTS of rest this weekend!

1. The last thing I do before going to sleep is put my teddy bear under my head (best pillow I've found :) and say my prayers .

2. When I can't sleep I wake up and bake... or blog

3. The first thing I do when I wake up is pee and do some yoga stretches .

4. When I'm tired I stop functioning and say random hilarious stuff... or I just sit there and stare like a creeper.

5. My dream bedroom would be super calming with a GiGANtIC bead with TONS of pillows and super soft blankets... you can never have too many pillows! It would also have to have a huge closet with a separate one for shoes!

6. If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be in Mexico with Jose

7. The longest sleep I've ever had was when I got the flu and they gave me anti-nausea medicine so I slept for two days. I woke up all confused and disoriented, not fun!

8. I sleep on my right side with a pillow between my knees. TMI?

9. When I sleep, I like to wear boy shorts and t-shirt .

10. My bedtime is usually about 1030, depends on the day .

Happy Friday! Have a SPLENDID weekend!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Made in Oregon!

Happy Friday! We made it through the week! Jose is visiting me from Mexico this weekend and he just got here last night (Jose is my bf from Mexico FYI). After his flight came in we went downtown and walked around and found an amazing restaurant called Violetta.

If you live in Portland or near Portland you cannot miss out on this place! Super cheap prices and amazing food! I had black truffle fries and let me tell you, out of this WORLD good and only 4 bucks! Jose had a burger and it was super tasty as well. I love locally run, sustainable businesses like this one. Such a great find, I will definitely be returning! I snagged a Fill in the Blank Friday from my dear friend Lauren's blog so enjoy and have an amazing weekend!

1. My favorite thing about this week has been Jose coming to visit me and me not having to work today AND the fact that blueberries are showing up more at the market!

2. The weather this week has been AMAZING! I am loving it... except my apartment doesn't have AC so that kinda stinks.

3. The last (interesting) item I received in the mail was Coupons for pizza hut... not very exciting at all, but at least it wasn't a bill!

4. The last movie I saw was Ratatouille, one of my all time faves, puts me in a good mood no matter what! and I've been watching old Paula Dean episodes on DVD, does that count?

5. If I could be doing anything I felt like today I would I actually get to do this cause I have the day off in honor of Jose's visit. So we are gonna go get delicious Mexican food and then hike silver falls. Not a bad day all together!

6. As a teenager I was awkward and had poofy hair, and bad taste in fashion

7. I wish I could trade lives for the day with maybe Harry Potter, it would be pretty freakin sweet to do magic, but only AFTER Voldemort is taken care of, cause I wouldn't want to meet him!

mmmmmm... black truffle oil fries

Couldn't wait for a bite!

Fill in the Blank Friday - thanks Lauren!

1. The best thing about being in school was/is seeing all your friends every day and at least for college the amazing feeling of napping through class!

2. The worst thing about being in school was/is PE I HATED it.... I was a very unfortunate, awkward child.....now I like to run but back then pure torture... and don't get me started on gym uniforms!

3. My favorite subject in school was/is English. I was a bookworm to the max! I would literally bring books to the dinner table. Mr Poppers Penguins was the best!

4. One subject I wish I could have mastered/would like to master is Geography, I don't think I could even place all 50 states on a map

5. I could never get tired of studying Home Ec! Or anything that had to do with pioneers, I was obsessed with the Oregon Trail.

6. The most memorable teacher I had was Mrs. Kent, but not for the good reasons

7. If I could choose between going to school for the rest of my life or working for the rest of my life, I'd choose work. I actually like what I do most days! If this question were work or start my own bakery/granola company the answer would be verrrry different.

Have a beautiful weekend!
